"Alexander Feoktistov, M.D., Ph.D. is a Director of Clinical Research at the world-renowned Diamond Headache Clinic, Chicago, Illinois and is a current President of the American Interventional Headache Society. He is a Board Certified in Internal Medicine by American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also Board Certified in Headache Medicine by United Council of Neurological Subspecialties and is a Diplomate of American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Feoktistov graduated in 1998 with Diploma with Highest Honors (Summa Cum Laude) and Doctor of Medicine degree from Moscow Medical Academy – the oldest and most prestigious medical school in Russian Federation founded in 1758. In 2000 he completed his residency in Neurology at the Department of Neurology of Moscow Medical Academy and subsequently underwent further specialization in psychotherapy and Eriksonian hypnosis.
In 2002, Doctor Feoktistov received a Ph.D. degree in neurology at the Department of Neurology at the Moscow Medical Academy. His dissertation was devoted to the problems of medication overuse headaches. As a result of his research he received a Presidential Award for Academic Excellence and Clinical Research from the President of Russian Federation for a one year fellowship of his choice. He was approved to study headaches at the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago, working directly with Seymour Diamond MD and other physicians where he remained until 2007, conducting clinical research and assisting in clinical duties.
In 2007, Doctor Feoktistov started a residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Joseph Hospital, Chicago. From 2010 through 2011, he completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. Doctor Feoktistov returned to the Diamond Headache Clinic in 2011 as a staff physician.
In 2014, Dr. Feoktistov has been named one of the America’s top physicians in the field of Headache and Pain Medicine.
In February, 2015 he has been named the recipient of the 2015 National Headache Foundation Lectureship Award.
He is an experienced researcher with extensive publications.
